Originally founded in 1950, the California Financial Service Providers Association was organized by retail financial services industry pioneers. CFSP now represents California companies holding check cashing permits and deferred deposit transaction licenses.
CFSP’s mission is:
- To promote the welfare of the retail financial services industry and its members;
- To develop and assist members in establishing and following a uniform code of ethical business practices;
- To represent the industry to legislators, regulators and key policy makers;
- To promote legislation and regulation that balance the interests of members with important consumer protections;
- To promote education about our products and business practices; and
- To provide a forum in which industry stakeholders can exchange information.
CFSP members follow a set of Best Practices we created to assure customers that they are treated fairly.
