CFSP members believe in giving back to the communities they serve. Here are some recent examples of community contributions our members have made.

The California Black Chamber of Commerce is announcing a new statewide effort to provide financial literacy education through its local chapters across California. With support from the California Financial Service Providers Association (CFSP), the Chamber will soon be offering a program entitled “Taking Control of Your Finances,” which includes lessons on basic financial services; the importance of saving; managing banking relationships; investing; budgeting; and the responsible use of various types of credit.

The Urban League of San Diego County and Moneytree Inc. will launch a partnership on July 20 to ensure that their constituents have the financial information to make sound decisions with regard to both traditional and nontraditional banking services. This partnership has been formed to promote social change with an economic empowerment initiative.
The first workshop will take place on Friday, July 20 at 10 a.m. at the Black Contractors Association Office, 6125 Imperial Avenue, San Diego.
The partnership will conduct additional workshops for youth and adults in the community by targeting several existing community based organizations, schools, and churches. The first organization to benefit from this partnership is the Black Contractors Association founded and headed by Mr. Abdur-Rahim Hameed and his Youth Build Program. |

 California Check Cashing Stores (CCCS) is launching a Financial Literacy Program for local area high schools in an effort to bring practical, real-world financial skills to high school students. The program, set to begin this summer, is meant to provide students with a foundation in financial concepts and to teach students easy but powerful tips for managing their own finances as they begin their working lives.
