Introduction

We want you to know that protecting and respecting your privacy is extremely important to us. We have written this Privacy Policy in easy-to-understand language so that you will know what information of yours we gather, when we gather it, and what we do with it. If you share non-public personal information with us, you may opt out of our sharing it with non-affiliated companies. Please see our Opt-Out form.

This Privacy Policy applies to all visitors to the California Financial Service Providers Association (CFSP) Web site, unless we state otherwise.

Information We Collect

CFSP collects the information from you that we need to administer our business and to provide services to you. The information we collect depends on whether you are a visitor to our Web site, an advertiser, or a member.

If you are a visitor to our Web site, we automatically gather internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamps, the time and length of your visit, the pages you look at on our sites, and store these data in log files. We use this information, which does not identify individual users, to analyze trends, to administer the site, to track users' movements around the site, to develop ideas for improving our sites, for marketing purposes, and to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole. We do not link this automatically-collected data to personally identifiable information.

If you are an advertiser on our site, including in our Member and Vendor Directory, we collect visitor information as well as your email address and all non-public personal information you provide on your Advertiser Application and from other sources you authroize on that Application, including credit card, PayPal, and bank information, if you provide it. We may store and use this information to process your application, to contact you regarding your application and your advertising, even if you have not completed all of the Advertiser Application, to collect payment from the sources you specify, and for our marketing purposes.

If you are a member, we collect the same information as for visitors as well as your email address and all non-public personal information you provide on your Membership Application and from other sources you authroize on that Application, including credit card, PayPal, and bank information, if you provide it. We may store and use this information to process your application, to contact you regarding your application and your membership, even if you have not completed all of the Membership Application, to collect payment from the sources you specify, and for our marketing purposes.

If you choose to give us any personal information, whether public or not, we may store it and use it for marketing and marketing research, as well as to complete any transaction you make with us and to provide services to you..

Use of Cookies

CFSP's Web site has your browser place a session cookie (a small file) on your computer. The cookie includes a unique identifier that helps us understand how visitors navigate the site. There is no personally identifiable information in the cookie. The use of cookies is standard on the Internet and many major Web sites employ them. Most browsers automatically accept cookies; however, you can usually change your browser to prevent accepting cookies or to notify you whenever you are sent a cookie. This gives you the chance to decide whether or not to accept the cookie.

The cookie itself does not identify you, your email address or any other personal information. We use the session information in the cookie to help us improve the site and our service, and to provide you with a better experience while on our site. Even without accepting a cookie you can still access most of the information on our site. However, some portions and features of the Web site will not be available to you without cookies enabled in your browser. For example, to access the members-only parts of the Web site you will need to enable cookies in your browser.

Security

We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to comply with Federal and California regulations to protect your non-public personal information from unauthorized access.

To provide security for the information you give us, CFSP uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology. SSL establishes a secure connection between your computer and ours so that only CFSP will be able to decode your information. When you fill in a form on our Web site, all of the information you enter on the form is encrypted while it is on your computer and is transferred encrypted to our computers. Similarly, any information we send you from our computers over an SSL connection is encrypted while it is travelling over the Internet and then decrypted on your computer.

You can tell that your connection is secure simply by looking to the right of the URL address you entered or at the lower right corner of your browser before sending any information to CFSP. If you see a closed lock or an unbroken key (depending on what browser you are using), your connection is secure and your information is safe.

While we strive to safeguard your personal information from access by unauthorized individuals. It is possible, though unlikely, that an unintended third party could access this information. Your use of our Web site and disclosure of your personal information at our Web site and email sent to you using an email address you provided us is at your own risk. If you do not want to use our Web site and email, we provide you alternative ways to transact business with us. We do not guarantee the security of any information you provide, although we use commercially reasonable efforts to safeguard your information.

Restricted Information Sharing

We restrict access to your non-public personal information to (a) employees who have a need to know your information to provide services to you, (b) third-party organizations and financial service providers that deliver services to CFSP, like credit card companies, PayPal, and automated clearing house vendors, (c) to any organization we find necessary to use to administer, enforce, or otherwise enable your transactions or ones that you have authorized, and (d) marketing partners not affiliated with us. When we third-party organizations to provide services instead of doing it ourselves, we request that they protect the confidentiality of personal information they receive as required by law. We are permitted under the law to share information about our members and former members with government agencies or authorized third parties under certain circumstances. For example, we may be required to share such information to comply with certain laws or to respond to subpoenas. If you do not opt-out, occaisionaly we may tell you about special offers from other non-affiliated companies that we think may interest you. If you do not respond to offers from these other companies, they will not learn about your relationship with us.

Notice of changes

CFSP reserves the right to modify our Privacy Policy as needed. If you are a CFSP member or advertiser, you will receive an email notification of the changes. Former members and other people who visit this Web site will not receive direct notices. Any alterations to the Privacy Policy will be posted on our Web site in a timely manner and people who are not CFSP members will find our current Privacy Policy there. This policy's effective date, which indicates the last time it was changed in a significant way, is found at the beginning of the policy. You can use this date to determine if the Privacy Policy has changed since your last review of it.

California Residents

California residents have the right to receive information identifying each third party company to which we have disclosed, within the past calendar year, your personal information, including information pertaining to your family, for the company to provide services or for marketing purposes. Additionally, California residents have the right to receive a description of the categories of personal information disclosed. You must make a request in writing to obtain such information. Your request must include your name, your mailing address, and your user name at our Web site, if you registered at our site, or your request will not be processed. We will only honor such requests once per calendar year. We will not accept requests made by email. Please mail your request to the address listed on the Contact CFSP Web page.

WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REVISE THIS PRIVACY POLICY SO CHECK THIS PRIVACY POLICY PERIODICALLY FOR CHANGES. YOUR CONTINUED USE OF OUR WEB SITE AFTER WE POST ANY CHANGES TO THE PRIVACY POLICY IS YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF SUCH CHANGES.

Tell A Friend

If you choose to use our referral service to tell a friend about our site, we will ask you for your friend's name and email address. We will automatically send your friend a one-time email inviting him or her to visit the site. CFSP uses this information for the sole purpose of sending this one-time email. We do not store this information in a database.

Feedback and Testimonials

By feedback and testimonials to CFSP via the Web site, you consent to allow CFSP to use the feedback and testimonials in whole or in part in CFSP's on its Web site and in promotional materials, including third-party materials promoting CFSP, CFSP's Web site, and any products and services offered by CFSP members. CFSP shall never use your full name. To identify the source, we will use only your initials, first name and the initial of your last name, and, possibly, the city and state you where you live.
