Thanks for Attending the 2010 Western States Conference & Trade Show

The 2010 Western States Conference & Trade Show is now over. If you were there, you had a chance to talk with our lobbyists and learn what is happening in Sacramento and Washington, how it will affect our businesses, and what you can do about it. You talked with new vendors and familiar ones at our trade show.

Many attended our California Deferred Deposit Transaction Law (CDDTL) Compliance Workshop and learned the latest compliance requirements based on the March 2010 letter from the Department of Corporations. Those attending the Compliance Workshop got the latest Compliance Checklist to help them do a self-examination to assure their stores are in compliance with the CDDTL. As a service to the industry, CFSP will make its CDDTL Compliance Checklist available to those who didn't attend the workshop, including non-members, for $250. If you want to purchase it, please go to our Contact Us page, put "I want to buy the CDDTL Compliance Checklist" in the message along with your contact information, and send the message to our staff. They will contact you directly.

Please join us next year at the beautiful Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa in Rancho Mirage, May 15 to 17, 2011.

See you in Rancho Mirage!

Welcome From CFSP's President
Aggie Clark, CFSP President

Thank you for visiting the California Financial Service Providers (CFSP) Web site. Here you'll have easy access to accurate and helpful information about our industry, our members, and our association.

We’ve found that while most consumers do business with a variety of financial service providers, our members offer important choices to Californians as they manage their day-to-day finances.

CFSP members provide convenient financial services including check cashing, short-term loans commonly called “payday loans,” money orders, wire transfers, prepaid debit and credit cards, and a variety of other services. CFSP members who cash checks hold check cashing permits from the California Department of Justice and those who offer payday loans hold deferred deposit transaction licenses from the California Department of Corporations. In addition, all CFSP members agree to follow our Best Practices. Consumers can feel confident that CFSP members offer financial products in a responsible manner with important consumer protections.

I invite you to explore our Web site to learn more about our industry. In the Community Connections section you'll see how CFSP and its members are making a positive impact in California communities throughout the state. The Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) pages will give you detailed information about our industry and products, and the CFSP in Action section highlights how CFSP is supporting the industry as it grows and develops during this very important time. You can also use the Members Directory to find a CFSP member conveniently located nearby.

In addition to the public part of the site, we have created a section especially for CFSP members. This is where you will find the latest news about our association, membership resources, and committee activities. CFSP members can also use the Vendor Directory to help find suppliers of products and services to the industry.

If you are in our industry and are not currently a member, we invite you to join the only California-based association that represents our industry to state policymakers, regulators, and opinion leaders.

We welcome financial service providers, consumers, policymakers, media representatives, or any other interested parties to review our Web site and contact us with any additional questions you may have. CFSP and company representatives are available to discuss matters regarding our association and our industry. We hope you find this Web site useful and welcome your comments on how we can serve you better.

Aggie Clark, President
CFSP
